25 October 2017
Globalscope Partners Ltd., an international M&A network, is pleased to share the news of the successful expansion of their regional network expansion into Turkey.
At the 22nd semi-annual conference, hosted by Perth based Corporate Advisory firm Tomkins Turner, more than 30 delegates representing 20 countries, met in Perth to discuss deal opportunities, hear from local industry and deal experts, develop the network and discuss expanding M&A activity within Asia.
The 2-day conference programme incorporated best practice presentations on professional development from Globalscope President Russell D’Alba and CatCap Managing Partners Michael Moritz and Caspar Stauffenberg, integration and collaboration within the network, and working with PE firms presented by Corbett Keeling Founder and CEO Jim Keeling and CatCap’s Michael Moritz.
In addition, the Globalscope group was provided with the latest insight into Cross Border M&A Legal considerations within Asia from Lavan Legal Partner Tony Chong. Globalscope sector experts provided updates on current trends and completed transactions within key sectors, and participants utilized the one-to-one deal meetings with Globalscope peers on behalf of their clients. Former Executive Vice President TBWA Asia Pacific Ian Thubron presented on “Marketing to an Asian Audience”, an insightful look at the way to market Western products and services into the complex Asian market where many US and Australian businesses have had limited success in the past.
Some Key insights provided by the guest speakers from the conference: Tony Chong Lavan on Cross Border M&A:
- Doing transactions in and out of Asia will become a norm
- You need to understand different approaches to doing deals in different parts of Asia- they are different
- Your lawyers need to understand this so that they can help but not impede on closing the deal
Ian Thubron, Head of Asia Strategies on Marketing in Asia:
- The importance of purpose - for a company, or a brand, a defining reason why we exist in the World, beyond simply what we produce/sell/do
- The importance of relevance, especially looking to new or overseas markets where consumers have different needs and wants. How do we pitch our messaging to them in order to be relevant and motivating
- Today, the importance of being multi-layered in approach - it's not just about TV commercials or print advertising, need to connect with consumers at multiple (often digital) touchpoints with targeted and relevant messaging
Todd Grover, Director of Tomkins Turner, stated: “We were honoured to host the Globalscope conference in Perth to develop deeper member collaboration, share more techniques learned through best practices and generate the means to increase the volume of partnership deals. We also found at least three new potential global buyers for a business we are currently marketing”
Justin Boyce Cam, Director of Tomkins Turner, stated: “Over the course of the conference we discovered a number of significant global investors that may be interested in our large agricultural project, as well as sharing specific inbound and outbound M&A opportunities in Asia. Tomkins Turner also agreed to help build on the existing Asian network and build in a best practice Agriculture work stream in the future.”
Russell D’Alba, President of Globalscope stated: “No better place than Perth to bond with our overseas colleagues. Perth is a fantastic city, has world class facilities as we experienced at the Crown Towers, and so much natural beauty. This event saw representation from 20 countries and it is our great pleasure to welcome Orion Capital from Turkey as a new member. We celebrated the largest deal in the network, the most active firm, and flagship cross-border transactions.”
Orion Capital Partners of Turkey was welcomed as a member to the network while in attendance at the conference. “We are honored to be welcomed into such an esteemed group of corporate finance professionals and such a prestigious network. We believe that the extensive and deep connections that Globalscope network provides around the globe will enable us to better serve our clients in the Turkish market whether it be in securing strategic partners for further growth or in finding solid investment opportunities abroad. We look forward to completing many successful international deals under the Globalscope umbrella.”, said Deniz Kartal, Managing Director of Orion Capital. The newest member firm expands the international reach and strength of the network and is evident of the continued growth of the organization.
